Our trusty Westerly Konsort, Oyster, is offered for sale as we are upgrading to a liveaboard cruiser. We have had some great adventures on her with our kids and hope to find her a new home for this sailing season.

Oyster is a great example of Westerly’s popular, comfortable and safe cruiser. With her steadfast and sturdy performance, she is a durable and trustworthy yacht. She is solid in all conditions, easy to handle and has a spacious and practical interior - brilliant for family cruising and shorthanded sailing alike.

Oyster has been well looked-after and has benefitted from many upgrades and replacements including new standing rigging (2018) and new sails (late 2017, used from July 2018), new non-skid deck paint (2018), and new starter and house batteries (2018). Oyster is newly scrubbed and antifouled with newly serviced winches and new anodes (all April 2019). She is lying in Gosport is ready to sail and a full and recent survey is available on request.

Engine

Oyster has a Bukh DV20 diesel engine (not original) that starts and runs very well, with no unusual noises and good coolant flow.
Specific updates to the engine include:
- August 2018 - water pump chain & impeller replaced.
- Late 2017 - fuel filters, oil filter, replacement injector, refurbished fuel solenoid, replacement exhaust hose with silencer, impeller and anode replacement.

Rigging

  • 2018: The standing rigging was completely overhauled. New stainless steel standing rigging was fitted including turnbuckles and forestay. Also the Sailspar endless line furler was refurbished and all bearings replaced.
  • 2019: New mainsheet & genoa sheets.

Sails

New Jeckells Mainsail and Genoa were made and fitted in late 2017 but not used until July 2018. Likewise, a new replacement sprayhood and mainsail stackpack by Quaysails in Poole were fitted in late 2017.
Pre-used set of sails are included and still very serviceable.

Outstanding boat jobs

We recognize that every boat comes with a rolling list of maintenance needs. The list below reflects the work we intend to do on Oyster if we have her for this season:

  • Lift, scrub & antifoul – We intend to schedule a lift, scrub and antifoul at some point in the next few weeks.
  • Cosmetic attention – new varnish on woodwork and minor gel coat touch ups.
